Anderson Guitarworks Stacked Humbucker SA1

The SA-series pickups from Tom Anderson have the widest frequency response of all Anderson stacked humbuckers, meaning they will capture more lows and highs than other Anderson single coils and stacked humbuckers.  The SA-series pairs extremely well with Anderson H-series humbuckers in an HSS or HSH format, as they will work together to reproduce the widest range of frequencies possible in your guitar.  The SA can be used in full humbucker mode, which has very convincing single coil tones, or in split-coil mode, which will give you truly authentic, full-bodied single coil tones.  As with other Anderson pickups, the higher in number you go, the more mids you will hear and the higher the output will be.  So the SA1 represents the least mids and lowest output, while the SA2+ will have the most mids and highest output.

The SA1 has an output that is similar to vintage single coil pickups, and the tone can be compared to '50s single coils with a touch more low-mids and bass.  It sounds great on its own but it brings the "quack" when combined with another SA pickup or an H/HF pickup in split-coil mode.  In our opinion, the SA is the best single-coil sized pickup that Anderson makes.

*Please note -the SA pickups are standard wound while the SA-R pickups are reverse-wound.  If you plan to use 3 SA-series pickups, you need to configure it with 2 SA pickups (neck and bridge) and 1 SA-R pickup in the middle.  However, if you plan to use 2 SA-series pickups in an HSS configuration, the SA-R needs to go in the neck position and the SA needs to go in the middle because Anderson humbuckers are reverse-wound by design.  Finally, in an HSH configuration, you would need 1 SA pickup for the middle position since both Anderson humbuckers would be reverse-wound.  If you need help choosing, we are here to help!
